How to Get to Salt Spring Island

Tsawassen Terminal just south of Vancouver BC
to Long Harbour on Salt Spring Island
This gorgeous ferry ride would cost a lot more if it were marketed as a cruise! In the summer. You're quite likely to be sailing within yards of a whale pod. The ferry winds its way through three islands before docking at Long Harbour. During the summer months there is an extra sailing that goes directly to and from Salt Spring with no stops (but through the same beautiful area). Reservations are a must.

Tsawwassen Terminal south of Vancouver to Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island via Swartz Bay
At Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal, ask for a "Throughfare Pass to Fulford Harbour". This will give you the same charges as the direct sailing even though you will be taking two ferries. You will be travellig on the large ferry to Swartz Bay Terminal on Vancouver Island (As if you were going to Victoria). There you transfer to the ferry bound for Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island. This route takes abut the same tie as the "cruise" above but because there are more choices of sailings, it is sometimes more convenient.

Horseshoe Bay to Vesuvius via Nanaimo
This route will be more convenient if you are in North Vancouver, Whistler area or the Sunshine Coast. On this route you board the ferry bound for Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and then drive south to the ferry terminal at Crofton just north of Duncan and board the ferry for Vesuvius on Salt Spring Island. This involves two ferry fares as there is no Thrufare pass offered by BC Ferries.

Seattle to Salt Spring via Victoria BC
You would then take a bus or taxi to Swartz Bay ferry terminal and board the ferry for Fulford Harbour. There is no bus service on Salt Spring Island currently but there is a taxi.

Anacortes WA to Sidney BC. Then a very short drive to Swartz Bay Terminal to catch a ferry to Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring.

Catch the M.V. Coho ferry from Port Angeles in Washinton State to Victoria on Vancouver Island, BC. Then drive to the Swartz Bay ferry terminal and catch the ferry to Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island.
